Why the wrist
Keeping notes on film is not a new idea. Keeping them for a whole roll is where every method falls apart.
Pull it out, unlock, switch apps, type. Thirty-six times for one roll. Almost nobody gets past the first few frames.
One hand is on the camera. It is dim, it is cold, your fingers are wet. A notebook is not going to happen.
By the time the scans come back weeks later, nobody remembers what was open at f/2 and what was stopped down.
Shutter, wrist up, two notches on the crown, wrist down. The values carry over from the last frame, so most of the time it is one press.
How it works
What you get
Everything below is what a digital photo has had all along, and film never did.
Not the day the lab scanned it. Your film sits on the same timeline as everything else you shot that week.
Where you stood is written in as GPS, so the frames show up in the places you took them.
Find the ones you shot wide open, or on a particular lens, the same way you would with digital files.
Standard EXIF tags, so Lightroom, Capture One and the Photos app all read them without anything extra.
What it will not do
The original file is never modified
New files are written to a folder you choose. What the lab gave you stays exactly as it was.
The image is not re-encoded
Only the metadata is replaced. The compressed image data is copied through byte for byte, so nothing is lost a second time.
TIFF has a limit worth knowing
If your scanner already wrote EXIF into a TIFF, that data cannot be replaced — only fields that were missing, such as location and date, get added. JPEG has no such restriction.
Price
The trial starts when you open the writing screen because developing takes weeks. Counting from install would end it before your film came back.
